Turbo Dodge. What’s not to like?
Handling an d braking aside, of course.

Interior and long term quality.

Because the K platform was a good platform, even if unglamorous. (And if that car isn’t a K, it’s a first cousin...)

Actually, the interiors didn’t stand out as all that terrible compared to what the US competition was churning out at the time, from memory anyway.
... and if you can find one that still exists, you don’t get much more long term quality than that .

Chrysler is pretty good at polishing shit.

Interior and long t erm quality.
hay guys I can regurgitate what I read on teh jellolopnik so I can sound smart even though I’ve never driven (or even seen in person) the car we’re talking about.

seriously. my rt was a 91 and had excellent buckets, a great infinity stereo, and great ergonomics. was better than my 2000 focus interior.

good looking, quick, little coupe, (but it’s a junky car...)

I could drive stick before I got my license thanks to my dad’s ‘91 Spirit R/T.

Saw plenty of Shelby Dodges over the weekend, Shelby (Shadow) GSX's are some hot garbage.

My aunt had a shadow when I was a kid and my dad had a beater Daytona for a winter when I was 15 or so. But yeah, go off.

I actually had a Shadow right after college. Five speed with a decent 2.2 liter. I wouldn’t call it an enthusiast car by any stretch but it wasn’t bad for an economy FWD car. It fit the bill for that stage of my life. The turbo would have been better though. :)

yeah, whatever. kids and 15 year olds always know what they’re talking about.

Long hood, short deck. That’s how you do it.
BMW E24. Ford MN12. First gen F-body. The last G-bodies. Basically every properly proportioned coupe.

Had a 1991 turbo vert. Fun, tossable little car with surprising kick and comfy seats.

Eh, swap in some Eibachs and Spirit RT Brakes, problems solved.
Not that they handled or braked terrible for their time.

It’s a Cousin.
The Shadow is a P-Body, which is a modified K-platform/

It’s CSX, we aren’t talking about some POS Mitsu here.

Turbo/manual in a lightweight package with tons of modding potential, what’s not to like?

But we are though.

If you put these in the context of the time they came out, they weren’t that bad. I had a friend that had one with all kinds of Direct Connection go fast stuff on it and it was fun. I do remember him going through a few head gaskets and it did have awful torque steer, but for that day and age, it was a decent enough fun car.

I made one of these from my 90 Dodge shadow and a turbo 2.5L caravan engine in college. It was even the turbo I non-intercooled engine. It was tons of fun while it lasted.

The 2.2/2.5 Turbo was pure Chrysler, as was the Shadow.

Interior was on par with everything else from the era.
Long term quality had a direct relationship with how well they were taken care of.

I’ve always liked these as well, they had a couple of Carroll Shelbys personal cars for sale recently one was a CSX it was a beauty.

the car I drove the first two years in college was an 87 shadow 2 door 2.2tbi with a 5 speed. the ES turbo was my dream car until I drove this:
not mine but exactly like it. 94 ES v6 5 speed. Local dodge dealer had it on their lot. it was 2 years old at the time. test drove it. massive torque. burnouts for days. I w as hooked. bought it on the spot. I miss that car and still look for one from time to time. Does that mean I’ve officially hit my midlife crisis?
